Better Dough

Branding + Illustration

An identity overhaul for the launch of Better Dough PH - a philippine-based online business that advocates the art of local bread-making, while selling all things bread.

Project Background

All Things Bread

A project that stemmed from her love of making bread, I was approached by owner Isha Ancheta in the project's early stages - when Better Dough was still an unrealised business idea.

Two years later, the business has grown & branched out from baking tools to other bread-related merchandise - all the while supporting local basket weavers, wood carvers, and panaderyas (bakeries).

Baking An Identity

We worked on building an identity that reflected the business goal - a simple, no-frills aesthetic that easily ties to the name, the business offering, and encourages good brand recall.

The logo takes on the brand name's initials, but is also representative of our central imagery: bread. The logo form - in all its chunk & curves - are reflected on all the products & merchandise.

Bread Merchandise

To grow the community, Better Dough eventually added bread-themed merchandise (stickers and shirts) to their inventory.

Being part of the conception of the brand voice & image, the process of translating it into an illustration style went fairly easy.  Despite having a clean & minimalist visual identity, we decided to go with a more whimsical, punnier route for the brand's merchandise. The end result is a line of stickers and shirt designs that give a bit more character to Better Dough's identity.
